Business Immigration
Business Immigration Attraction Program
Ontario’s North Economic Development Corporation (ONEDC) has developed a confidential matchmaking tool that will connect newcomers looking to invest in Canadian businesses directly with businesses for sale in Northern Ontario.
This unique program will contribute to the local economy by attracting new talent, contributing to business/job retention and growing the region’s small business sector. The pilot project, initiated in 2010 as a result of a partnership between the City of North Bay and the City of Greater Sudbury is already receiving a great deal of interest from local businesses, realtors, business brokers and newcomers and has since been expanded to include the cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins.
Through the confidential matchmaking process, business immigrants who are currently residing in the Greater Toronto Area will be matched with Northern businesses based on investment criteria inputted into the system. When potential matches are found, the program coordinator and local Economic Development offices will work with the businesses and investors to facilitate meetings between the all parties involved.
